When an organization develops, designs, builds, pays for, and/or managing the production of something…they “own” some of the data behind it. But what if the government funds part of it, or funds the development of part of it, then who owns it? And what does “own” mean?
In this episode, Steve Lucianetti joins Kevin to dig into Data Rights. Steve is a former US Navy contracting officer, and longtime member of the Skyway Acquisition team. Kevin and Steve cover the basics of Limited and Unlimited Data Rights. They also outline what Data Rights are, when they apply, and how they apply in a few general areas. As you can imagine, Data Rights is a HUGE topic (Data Rights has its own FAR Part). This is step one in mapping out the nuances of Data Rights.
