“Government contracting” is a broad phrase that includes a wide variety of skills, processes, and judgements.

One of the lesser known types is Contingency Contracting. Contingency Contracting includes procuring goods, services, and construction in support of volatile environments like military actions, national emergencies, and declared national disasters. In other words, contracting that is NOT done in a traditional business environment. We introduced Contingency Contracting back in episode 431. In this episode, we dive into some of the skills Contingency Contracting Officers (CCOs) need to operate and execute effectively.

Troy Small again joins Kevin on the podcast. Troy is a retired US Marine Corps Contracting Officer who has years of experience serving as a Contingency Contracting Officer. In Part 2, Kevin and Troy cover 3 key process elements that CCOs need to know to thrive as CCOs. They dig into why these particular skills matter, how to get them, and provide examples of how to apply them.

In Part 3, they will cover 3 key “people” elements that help CCOs keep up with this demanding and fluid role.
