The FAR is the basic ruleset the government uses to award contracts. The FAR is a Rule book. For all our frustration with it and our collecting amazement at how wordy and stuffy it can be, it’s the Rule Book of how we meet the US govt mission through acquisitions.

Even as rumors swirl about FAR 2.0, the FAR will still be the rules the government uses to compete, award and manage contracts. Both government teams and contractor teams are making playbooks based on what’s in the rule book. However, it’s difficult to design effective plays without understanding the rules.

In this episode, Kevin and Paul introduce the concept of the FAR is a RULEBOOK, not a PLAYBOOK. They also provide details and context on why that matters, to whom it matters, and what both government and contractors can do to ensure they are building effective playbooks.
