Last week, the President issued Executive Order 14275 that focused on streamlining and updating the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). We first discussed the implication of updating the FAR about a month ago in Episode 499 (Working with the FAR we have…). That episode outlined sunsetting as a viable option to streamline the 2,000 page FAR.
This episode builds on one of the topics in episode 499, namely sunsetting regulations. We thought this was worth revisiting since the Executive Order introduces the concept of sunsetting non-statutory provisions after four years.
There are many examples of “sunsetting” GovCon rules and regulations over the last decade or so. In this episode, we review a few examples of sunsetting acquisition rules, then we outline the implications and benefits of using this process to streamline the regulations.
Once again, Shelley Hall from our Skyway Acquisition team joins me to outline this topic.
